An .xlsx file for Excel, Google Sheets, LibreOffice or Numbers. Delete the examples and add your own products.
The file is made in your browser: no sign-up, and nothing is sent to a server.
Outgrowing the spreadsheet?
When several people touch the stock, when you need to know who took what, or you keep stock in two places, turn it into an app of your own. It imports this same file, and you keep changing it by asking.
What's in the app
Your spreadsheet, imported
Upload the .xlsx or CSV you already use. Columns like Item code, Description or Qty are recognised, even under a title row.Stock in and out, with history
Every delivery, sale, count and transfer is recorded with a date and a name. Mistakes aren't deleted: they're reversed with another movement.Low-stock alerts
Each product has its reorder level. The dashboard lists what to reorder and from which supplier.Several locations
Warehouse, shop or van: stock per place and transfers between them. With one location, there's nothing to set up.Stock value
Value at cost and at sale price, and by category, always current. Export to Excel (CSV) when your accountant asks.A team with roles
Warehouse staff record stock in and out, managers run counts and imports, your accountant can look but not change. How it works, in 3 steps
01
Start from this page
Click “Turn it into my app”. The Inventory starting point is already picked and your first message is already written.
02
The app runs in about a minute
Refinar builds the app with sign-in, pages and a real database, and shows it in a live preview. Import your Excel file right there.
03
Change it by asking, then go live
Ask for changes in plain words: a batch number field, a monthly report. When you go live, the code and the database are yours, and the app is hosted on Refinar.
When the spreadsheet stops being enough
An inventory spreadsheet works while one person keeps it. The trouble starts when two people edit the same file, a formula breaks when someone inserts a row, or nobody knows who took ten boxes out.
The app records every movement with a date and a name, works out stock from that history, and flags low stock without anyone opening the sheet. The spreadsheet isn't lost: it goes in on day one and comes back out as CSV whenever you need it.
Frequently asked questions
How do I track inventory in Excel?
Make one sheet with a row per product: SKU, name, cost, price, reorder level and opening stock. On a second sheet, log each movement with the date, SKU, In or Out, and quantity. SUMIFS adds up stock in and stock out per SKU, and on hand is opening stock + in − out. The workbook on this page is already built that way.
Is the workbook free? Do I need to sign up?
It's free and there's no sign-up. The file is generated in your browser when you click the button, and no data is sent to a server.
Can I import my own spreadsheet into the app?
Yes. The app reads .xlsx and CSV files, recognises common column names (Item code, Description, Unit cost, Qty…), accepts a title row above the header and treats the quantity as an opening count. A SKU that already exists updates that product.
What's the difference between an Excel sheet and an inventory management system?
A spreadsheet stores numbers; an inventory system stores movements. In the app, every stock in and out is recorded with who did it, stock levels come from that history, several people work at once, and each can only do what their role allows.
Does it do invoicing, accounting or barcode scanning?
No. It's stock control: products, movements, locations and suppliers. It doesn't send invoices, keep the books or work out tax, and the barcode is a searchable field, not a scanner integration. Ask for what's missing once the app exists.
What happens when I turn it into an app?
You create a Refinar account, and it builds an inventory app of your own from the Inventory starting point, with sign-in and a database. Creating and changing the app uses credits from your plan; prices are on the pricing page.
